Ma. Althea 36 married with a 10-, 15- and 18-year-old, and the youngest child in the family of 13 siblings. She wants to work in Singapore to support and save up for her family, and she is from Leyte, Philippines.

Experiences

8 months (2009 – 2010) as a helper in Manila, Philippines

Ma. Althea worked in a 2-storey house with 4-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a family of 5 with a 7-year-old, and she looked after his welfare, together with a stay-out co-helper. Daily, she cleans and tidy the house, prepare and cook for the family. 

(2011 – 2023)

Stayed home, looked after her family welfare and applied to work in Hong Kong.  

3 months (Sep 2023 – Dec 2023) as a helper in Hong Kong

Ma. Althea worked in a condo with 3-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a family of 3 with a 5-year-old, and she looked after his welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new culture and experiences.  

(Jan 2024 – present)

Returns home, looks after her family welfare and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking                   

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children / infants, and she looks after her own since birth. In her previous experience, she prepared their meals, bathed, dressed and sent them to-and-fro from school, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly, and she looks after her 76-year-old mother with hypertension. She prepares her meals, administer her medications, attend to and assist in her needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and back home, she grooms and feed an Aspin, and two cats, keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Ma. Althea is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
