Experiences

1 year (2016 – 2017) as a helper in in the Philippines

Melody worked in a condo with 2-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a family of 4 with a 1- and 5-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily she does general house cleaning chores, marketing, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding.

(2017 – 2018)

Stayed home, looked after her family welfare and applied to work in Saudi Arabia.

3 years 1 month (May 2018 – Jun 2021) as a helper in Saudi Arabia

Melody worked in a 4-storey house with 5-bedrooms, 5-toilets, 6-living rooms, 3-kitchen and a garage for an Arabian family of 7 with a newborn, and mid-80’s elderly couple, and she looked after their welfare. Daily she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new culture and experiences.   

(Jul 2021 – present)

Returns home, worked as a cashier in a meat shop and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking                   

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In Saudi Arabia, she prepared and cooked basic Arabic dishes, such as kabsa and biryani.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children / infants, and she looks after her own since birth. In her previous experience, she prepared their milk, meals and fed them, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, kept company and played with them, kept company and soothed them to sleep, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly. In Saudi Arabia, she prepared and cooked their meals, administered their vitamins and medications, attended to and assisted in their mobility and needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets. In her local experience, she groomed and fed a Shih Tzu, kept clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Melody is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
