Genelyn 31 separated with a live-in partner and a 7-year-old, and the 7th child in the family. She wants to work in Singapore to save up for her daughter’s education and family emergencies, she is from Surigao Del Norte, Philippines.

Experiences

1 year 2 months (Aug 2014 – Oct 2015) as helper in the Philippines

Genelyn worked in a 2-storey house with 5-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room, roof top and kitchen for a family of 7 with an infant, and she looked after her welfare, together with a working-student helper. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, does the infant’s laundry and folding. She didn’t work long, as she needed to continue with her studies.

Stayed home, spent time with her family and seek new work opportunities.

11 months (Jul 2020 – Jun 2021) as nanny cum helper in the Philippines

Genelyn worked in a flat with 4-bedrooms, a toilet, living room, and kitchen for a family of 6 with a 7-year-old, and she looked after his welfare. Daily, cleaning and tidying up the child and helper’s bedrooms only, do marketing, prepare and cook for the family, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn’t work long, as she needed to focus on her studies. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to widen her experience to be a better helper.

Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as adobo, humba, fish tinola, pork afritada etc., keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looked after her own since birth. In her previous experience, she prepared milk, meals and fed the infant, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, watched over their playing and safety, tutored and supervised the child schoolwork, dressed and got him ready for school, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and back home, she grooms and feeds three mixed-breed dogs, keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Genelyn is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
